As infants, we are naturally drawn to water. When we slip into the pools and lakes and tubs of life, we are guided by giant hands and supportive voices. Despite forces that would take us under, an agreement is made: we are made up of water, and so we learn the tools to move through the water.

As a digital, social, local and global culture, we are learning how to swim. Soon after diving in and thrashing about, we learned how to move, to function, to find connection, utility and even higher purpose in our new digital commons. Then came tools. Thousands of tools designed to organize, mobilize and capitalize on the social media revolution. According to Arbitron, every 5 hours a new social media tool is launched into the marketplace.

Today, individuals and organizations understand: there’s no turning back. Social media has become and will continue to unfold as a tool for social evolution.

Amidst this opportunity, organizational leaders face overwhelming options and tools. As businesses engage in this open frontier of e-communication, an economy of experts and consultants has formed to support them. They provide the strategies, tools, action plans and systems for measurement. And yet so few organizations succeed in transforming attention spans into worthy business outcomes.

Ian Bryan teaches organizational leaders how to find their place in social media which activates fiercely active and loyal brand cultures. With a constant eye on automated measurement tied to revenue and marketing goals, Bryan will provide a birds-eye-view of what he terms the scale of personal relevance which attracts and holds all social media users regardless of their color or age or place in life. Sharing at a fundamental level what motivates different audience types, this session will then explore how to build, engage and activate any audience in a way which drives business while empowering all involved.
